  • Bright, indirect light keeps it looking its best.
  • North-, east-, or west-facing windows work well.
  • Keep it out of harsh direct sun.
  • Water once the top few centimetres start to dry out.
  • Do not leave it standing in water after watering.
  • Cut back a little in winter when growth slows.
  • Give the pot a quarter turn when you water to help it grow evenly.
  • Keep it away from cold drafts and strong heat sources.
  • A bright shelf or table near a window suits it well.
  • This plant readily makes little offsets, or “babies,” around the base, and they are easy to detach and pot up. That pass-along habit is why it is widely called a friendship plant.
