Tropical vibes on point! The famous bird of paradise (BOP) is a show stopper and will not disappoint. A life-long plant, it can be taken outside during summer months and brought back inside to keep the jungle vibes strong throughout the winter. BOP leaves will naturally tear as a defence against wind in the rainforest, so don't be alarmed; it's all a part of their look!  The Bird of Paradise variety we carry is the White Bird. 

Large - Diameter of growers pot is 10''. Large plants stand between 3.5''- 4.5'' and will continue to grow up to 6'' and taller. 

Extra Large - Diameter of growers pot is 12''. Extra Large plants stand between 5''-7'' tall.

Product Care

  • Place in bright direct sun to bright indirect sun.
  • If you want your BOP to flower, put it out in direct sunlight during the summer.
  • If you want your BOP to flower, put it out in direct sunlight during the summer.
  • Water only when the soil is dry.
  • Increase watering when the plant is in sunny locations during the warmer months.
  • Winter watering is about 3 weeks between watering. In the summer, you can increase to 2 times a week.
  • Splitting of the leaves is normal and is to be expected with these plants. It is used as a defense against the wind to allow it to pass through more easily and ensure the steam doesn’t split in half.
  • Bird of paradise can be sensitive to hard water. Try using tap water and allow the plant to get rainwater when it is outside.

Beautiful BOP

I’m a plant newbie, but I plant on becoming a plant pro. Foli made it easy to find the plant that would work best for our master bedroom. The plants arrived so fast with no damage. They’re all so healthy! I think my BOP is thriving, it’s my time owning this plant but she seems happy!! She even enjoyed some time outside this past weekend. While this may have been my first purchase, it won’t be my last - Foli makes it so easy to find plants for your space & how to care for them!!
